Bestobell recommends BAS244 stainless steel worm drive clamps for retaining Fireflex pipe penetration seals. They are quick to install, provide uniform tightening and achieve better sealing than bolted clamps. In addition, the wide range of adjustment they offer enables installers to reduce stock levels. For large seal diameters, it is sometimes necessary to link more than one clip together.

Jetfire seals are stiffer than Fireflex due to the outer cover of rubber-coated mesh and so they are normally retained by a BAS244 stainless steel worm drive clip. A double clipping arrangement should be adopted in applications where the pipe’s diameter exceeds 350mm.

As clamp rings are not readily available on offshore platforms, these are usually supplied as part of the sealing package.
